Oh, Scotland! We spent 5 days in Scotland–a few days in Inverness and then the rest on the Isle of Skye, and it was SUCH a nice change of pace from our time in London. We started our time in Inverness at Fort George, which was built after the Jacobite uprising in 1745.
I was SO excited to go be on the coast (this is MY ideal beach vacation!!) and to see some wildlife. We were able to see dolphins and a seal, right outside of the fort. Unfortunately, I don’t have a zoom lens–so that small speck in the center of the water is the dolphin’s fin!! Ha!
Clava Cairns, a cemetery that dates back to the Bronze Age.
This might sound completely absurd…but is “moss-on-rocks-photographer” a profession?! Because I could not control myself with the moss on the stones at Clava Cairns.
The Culloden Battlefield was the final battle of the Jacobite uprising in 1745.
Our traditional Scottish breakfast! Followed by Jacob’s new favorite baked good–Millionaire’s Shortbread. It didn’t last long enough to take a picture!!
Eilean Donan Castle shot through some heavy mist!!
On the road to the Isle of Skye!
View from the trail up to the Old Mann of Storr!
SO much mist!! I think Jacob was most excited by our rental car upgrade (apparently they didn’t have the basic car we requested…so we got an Audi!). I will say I was VERY impressed by his driving abilities in Scotland–especially on the one-lane roads with no passing areas!
Neist Point Lighthouse! If it weren’t so embarrassing, I would share a video of me hiking up to get this view (below). Knee-deep in mud with 70+mph wind (not exaggerating!)…to say I was a hot mess would be the understatement of the century!
This view of Coral Beach (below) looks surprisingly calm for the weather we had on our hike back there…the same 70+mph wind and sideways rain!!
Me AFTER the rain and wind hiking back to Coral Beach and my time at Neist Point Lighthouse!!!
The Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye!! It was gorgeous…but, friends, Pinterest kinda exaggerates the Fairy Pools a bit!
This isn’t in focus at ALL…but, he was maybe 2 inches from our car and he just looks MASSIVE!
We LOVED our tour (and tasting!!) at the Glen Ord Distillery!
